Dass sich Rap vermehrt persönlichen und melancholischen Themen widmet, ist nicht neu. Was den Wiener Bountydave jedoch vom Großteil sogenannten Emo Raps unterscheidet, ist der überraschend optimistische und konstruktive Spin, den er in seinen Songs finsteren Themen wie Depression, Traumata oder Liebeskummer zu geben vermag. Bountydave resigniert nicht, romantisiert aber auch gleichzeitig nicht den struggle oder stilisiert sich zum misogynen Einzelkämpfer. Bountydave sucht über seine Musik Verbindung und Verbündete, wenn er den gesellschaftlichen Status Quo zu psychischer Gesundheit oder patriarchale Zwänge hinterfragt. Dabei überzeugt er mit einer pop-sensibility, die manchmal an den späten Mac Miller erinnert.
Bountydave über sich:
Hi! My name is David (aka Bountydave). When I was young I wanted to be a singer/musician one day and so I sang a lot and played a few instruments too. So actually ever since I can think I made music. In January 2020 I started writing my own songs and was lucky to get to know some people to support me recording them and making them sound quite professional. (I was rapping and singing on beats so i did vocals basically) Since then i did not stop writing and recording songs because I love it and a lot of people told me to keep doing it because my music makes them feel good and making people feel good or better about themselves is actually another dream-job of mine.
I also started producing songs by myself with the help of some awesome humans like Martin Husar (mART), who is also featured on my/our latest release "On a wave" as guitarist and Julian Höninger, who helped me with the mixing and mastering of our latest release. Me and my friends also had the pleasure to enjoy our first live gig last year and hopefully can do so more often in the future.
