the Cortege

We are a three piece from London and have been around since early 2010. Hailing from various bands, our triangulation produces progressive heavy soul which now has been, in part, documented in the form of our first EP. The EP was recorded in 6 days @ Bink Bonk studios in Bristol with producer Mat Sampson. The aim was to distil our raw unambiguous sound into zeros and ones (01101000 01101111 01110100 00100000 01100100 01100001 01101110 01100111 00100001 00001010). At gigs people have compared our music to the likes of Glassjaw, Tool, Rueben and The Mars Volta. We have a list of influences as long as your arm of course, but ultimately, we just try to capture the spontaneous moments and nurture the good ideas wherever they occur. In the end though, as Frank Zappa once said, talking about music is like dancing about architecture. Probably best to spin one of the tracks or try to catch us at one of our shows.
